Overview

The Diploma of Retail Management course is to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the dynamic and fast-paced world of retail. With a focus on practical skills and real-world experience, students will gain a deep understanding of retail best practices and the ability to apply them in a variety of settings. This course covers a range of essential topics, such as driving profits through strategic planning, managing change, handling difficult customers, integrated marketing, as well as managing inventory and stock. Upon completion of the Diploma of Retail Management, graduates will be well-equipped to pursue a range of retail management positions, from entry-level to senior roles, in various retail environments.

INDUSTRIAL VISITS

Our program incorporates a unique learning approach with multiple field visits to various retail setups, aiming to enrich students' comprehension of the retail industry's business operations. Ms Sherin Banu Batcha

Ms. Sherin holds an MBA from United Business Institutes, Belgium (2009) and a Masters in Computer Application from Madurai Kamaraj University, India (2003). With over 14 years of experience she has taught bachelor level business modules in Stamford College (Malaysia), Gulf College (Gulf of Oman), Auston Institute of Management (Singapore), and Academies Australasia - Australian Universities (Singapore).
Her experience is vast with four conference presentations which have been published in Society for Researchers into Higher Education, International Technology, Education and Development (INTED), National Institute of Education (NIE) and International Conference on Education and Innovation. In July 2015, her research on Singapore Tertiary education was published on DOAJ, through the Ireland Journal of Academic Practices. 

STAR LECTURERS

Dr. N L Balasudarsun

Dr. N L Balasudarsun holds MBA, MSc and PhD in Business and E-Commerce. He has a passion towards teaching and sharing knowledge. He completed FDP in Management from IIM-Indore, Certificate in Teaching Course from Stamford College, Malaysia, and Pedagogy in Management education at IIM-Kozhikode. He has six years of industry experience and 17 years of academic experience in teaching business schools in Malaysia, Singapore, Uzbekistan and India. He has visited several leading universities for academic exposure and collaboration. His research interest areas are Marketing, Consumer Behaviour and Nero Marketing. He has published in leading journals and presented research papers in various conferences.

  • Industrial Attachment (IA)

The Industrial Attachment is an integral module of the programme. However, suppose a student is unable to participate in the Industrial Attachment module due to circumstances beyond the control of the Student or the College, like non-approval of the Training Work Permit by the Ministry of Manpower or unable to secure an intern placement due to unavailability of vacancies, the Student will be required to complete a Research-Based Project with the submission of a report to be considered for graduation for the course. While AAC will make its best efforts to secure Industrial Attachment for the students, it does not guarantee that it will be able to secure one for every student.

INDUSTRIAL

ATTACHMENT

  • Obtained at least D for any GCE O Level subject, or

  • Higher National ITE Certificate (Higher Nitec), or

  • 10 years of formal education OR equivalent, or

  • Matured students with 30 years and above with at least 8 years of work experience will be considered for admission.

(Applicants must be of age 16 and above.)
