Programme Overview

BA(Hons) – Business Management (Top-up) – BABM equips students with the strategic, operational, and leadership skills needed to thrive in today’s dynamic business world. The University of Derby has a strong track record of delivering impactful business education, and its curriculum has been refined to reflect the demands of modern industries. The course covers key areas such as strategic management, entrepreneurship, innovation, digital transformation, and sustainability, helping students become future-ready business leaders who are confident in driving change and making data-informed decisions.

 

In BABM, students will explore a broad spectrum of contemporary business management topics. They will learn to critically analyse business problems, adapt to global economic changes, develop innovative business strategies, and lead teams effectively. The course also integrates practical projects and the use of digital tools to prepare graduates for real-world business challenges.

Programme Objectives

BA(Hons) Business Management aims to:

  • Apply decision-making processes and problem-solving skills within a global business environment.

  • Analyse the planning and optimisation of resources to achieve organisational goals.

  • Demonstrate problem identification, analysis, solution generation and impact consideration within real life scenarios.

  • Critically evaluate different models of leadership and apply leadership strategies to organisational objectives.

  • Critically evaluate theories, strategies and plans.

  • Reflect on the effectiveness and efficiency of business evaluation and how this relates to the development of self-reliance, self-efficacy and self-confidence.

  • Critically evaluate the balance between the demands of leadership and the demands of management.

  • Independently produce creative and innovative business solutions that acknowledge the holistic nature of business disciplines

  • Articulate critical understanding of global business issues both orally and in writing.
