Assessment & Grades

ASSESSMENT

The programme utilises a wide range of formative and summative assessment methods, which are challenging, realistic and meaningful. Feedback is integral to the assessment and the learning and teaching process. Formative assessments are designed to provide self-assessment opportunities, a dialogue between students and staff, and dialogue among students via peer assessment.
Summative assessments provided by UoD are designed to give students the opportunity to demonstrate the meeting of learning outcomes for each module and the overall programme, to achieve the aims of the programme and to provide a coherent learning experience. While ensuring comparability and equity at each level, the methods used also ensure that assessment is increasingly more challenging as students progress through the programme.
Testing knowledge is through various assessment tasks, including essays, exams, reports, case studies, oral presentations, posters, assessments utilising industry case studies, and a sustained piece of independent intellectual work. This approach fosters the development of academic literacy, as well as skills and knowledge. The incorporation of both theoretical and vocational elements will prepare students for the real world and careers beyond graduation.

Certificate will be awarded by University of Derby.
